Privacy Policy

Effective date: 4 June 2026

YakLink is operated by Yakware, Ltd. ("we", "us"), a company registered in the United Kingdom. This policy explains what data we process when you use our website, link-shortening service, and API, and the lawful basis for doing so under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR.

1. Data we process

Account data

When you register we store your email address, an encrypted (hashed) password, and billing/subscription metadata. Payment card details are handled by our payment processor (Stripe) and are never stored on our servers.

Link & click data

The core of our service is creating short links and measuring their use. We store the destination URLs you shorten, the slugs and domains you create, and any campaigns you organise. When someone follows one of your links, we record click metadata — the resolved country, device type, operating system, browser, language, and HTTP referrer, together with the IP address, a timestamp, and the link involved — so we can build your analytics.

Technical data

Like any web service, our servers keep operational logs (IP address, request time, status) for security and performance monitoring.

2. How we use data

  • To redirect short links to their destinations.
  • To produce the click and geographic analytics shown on your dashboard.
  • To enforce plan quotas, rate limits, and prevent abuse.
  • To manage your account, billing, and support requests.

3. Lawful basis

We process account, link, and click data to perform our contract with you. We rely on legitimate interests for security monitoring and abuse prevention, and on your consent for any optional analytics cookies (see our Cookie Settings).

4. Sharing

We do not sell your data. We share data only with processors that operate the service on our behalf (hosting, Stripe for payments, email delivery), under appropriate data-processing terms. If you connect the Slack integration, we exchange the data necessary to create links from your workspace.

5. Retention

Account and link data is retained for the life of your account and a reasonable period afterwards for legal and accounting purposes. Click analytics records are retained to power your historical dashboards; you may request earlier deletion. Operational logs are rotated on a short cycle.

6. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, and you may object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@yaklinks.com.

7. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the effective date above.
